Description: The Family Medical Leave Act entitles eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specific family and personal medical reasons. It is important to understand what employees are eligible for and how to accurately manage their eligibility through the year.

  • Explore common reasons an employee takes FMLA
  • Analyze the difference between State and Federal benefits and how to track
  • Perform the appropriate role of an employee, supervisor, and HR regarding FMLA

Target Audience: Human Resources, Supervisors, Department Heads, and anyone that may involved in protected leaves.

Bio: Dani Patton joined Cities and Villages Mutual Insurance Company in October 2019 as an Employment Practices Liability Specialist. She came from a government position where she served her community in a Human Resources capacity for 4 ½ years. Before that, she was an HR Generalist for a private company for 4 years.  Dani has her bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources, and is certified as a Diversity Professional (CDP). She is currently working towards obtaining IPMA-HR Senior Certified Professional certification.
