Child Protection: Keeping Kids Safe from Abuse (Virtual)

Child Protection: Keeping Kids Safe from Abuse (Virtual)

April 24, 2025

Cost: Free to Members. $100 for Non-Members

Description:  Municipalities have a responsibility to keep children safe as they play and learn at parks, pools, and libraries. The legal responsibilities and best practices that keep children safe are best applied when part of a robust formal plan; unfortunately, many municipal departments have informal and unwritten policies and procedures. Join CVMIC and attorney Ryan Heiden for a robust discussion and review of the best practices that will protect children, adult staff, and the community.

Agenda:

  • 9:30am – 10:00am Overview & Introduction of Do’s & Don’ts (Andrew Taylor)
  • 10:00am – 11:00am Legal Responsibilities & Best Practices (Ryan Heiden)
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm Child Protection Training, Review, and Q&A (Andrew Taylor & Open Forum)

This program will highlight the new CVMIC resources:

  • Abuse & Grooming Model Policy
  • Child Protection on-demand training in NeoGov Learn
